Alessio's Book Shelf

Logging all the books I'm reading each month with updates.

Who Am I?

I’m Alessio Persichetti and I’m from Italy. I’ve a PhD in Philosophy and pursued an academic career before switching to a technical writing and test engineering job in the software industry.

I’ve still nurturing a profound love for humanities and social sciences besides my daily job in a technical field. I deem compelling to discuss ideas about literature and non-fiction books concerning philosophy, politics, science, and history. Reading Lost in Thought: The Hidden Pleasures of an Intellectual Life by Zena Hitz convinced me to take my education in my own hands and cultivate the “life of the mind”.

Besides reading books, I enjoy board games1, tabletop Rpgs, running, riding my bike, and hiking.

About this bibliophile’s website

I’m a bibliophile who can’t stand spending a day without reading a few pages.

I’ve love to keep track of what I’m doing in a systematic fashion, and I’ll post about all the books I’ve been reading. This site is my repository of my literary thoughts for two reasons:

  • It helps reflecting on what I’ve read, instead of just consuming a book and passing to the next one on the side bed.
  • I usually discuss books on multiple platforms. I write in one place and share the link, avoiding copy & paste the same comments.

Click on posts button on top and enjoy my notes.

I designed this website using the Hugo open source framework and dario theme. I wanted a light-weighted minimal blog where I could have the complete control and customization, and no other solutions on the market satisfied me. It’s also my form of resistance against the corporations owning most of the internet nowadays.2

  1. I love all genres, both American and Euro. Although, I’ve a strong preference towards the board wargames which compose most of my collection. You can find me on BoardGameGeek.Com ans scroll my game library. ↩︎
